Real Estate is the second largest sector in which people are employed. Parliament has come up with various legislations to protect the interest of consumers purchasing units in Real Estate projects, which include the enactment of Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016. Before the RERA Act, 2016 Homebuyers also had sufficient protection under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. RERA Act was enacted so as to create a more equitable and fair transactions between the sellers and buyers of the property and also established an adjudication mechanism, Real Estate Regulatory Authority and an Appellate Tribunal for speedy dispute redressal and registration of all projects as well as key players in the real estate sector. Group of homebuyers can even take resort to provisions of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 for resolution of Real Estate Companies.
